Highlights

  • Stewards are required to be qualified craftpersons capable of performing the work in question… There are no non-working stewards, nor are there any non-working personnel under the National Maintenance Agreements (NMAs).

 

  • Stewards are to be appointed by the appropriate local union and confirmed in writing to the Employer (Contractor).

 

 

  • Stewards are to be the last employee to be laid-off, provided that they are capable of performing the remaining work on the job.

 

  • All Union Representatives shall have reasonable access to NMA job sites. (Reference Policy Decision VII-2)

  • VII-1 – Lay-Off of Steward
    • Provides clarification and intent of employment/termination of a Steward when there is only one (1) craftperson remaining on the job in a supervisory capacity.

 

  • VII-2 – Jobsite Access
    • Discusses the topic of jobsite access for local union representatives.
